- Liverpool hold an option to buy him for £47m in the summer
Seeing Ronald Araujo with the South American drink known as Mate is becoming a regularity around Liverpool, as the 27-year-old stays true to his Uruguayan heritage wherever he goes.
The sight of the defender in the starting line-up is also becoming the norm this season. Amid all the focus on big-money signings, the loanee is increasingly looking like one of the club's most important deals.
Since arriving from Barcelona, Araujo has started eight of Liverpool's 10 games under Andoni Iraola, featuring six times at right-back and four times at centre-back. Last week, he scored his first goal with a header against LASK and provided a backheel assist for Dominik Szoboszlai against Atletico Madrid.

With injuries sidelining Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, Araujo is seizing the chance to showcase the versatility and experience that attracted Liverpool, while taking English lessons to aid his adaptation.
"Ronald was one of those situations that before the market was not there and the situation appeared."

Manager Andoni Iraola praised the player's hunger and willingness to help the team in any position required, noting that his experience and language skills are benefiting the squad significantly.
Short-term loan deals during injury crises often serve as temporary fixes, but Araujo's seamless adaptation and tactical versatility highlight how a player can transform from a stopgap solution into a permanent fixture of strategic discussion for the club's future.
