- YouTube confirms it is not testing hiding the dislike button for regular users.
- A new UI moves the dislike button behind the three-dot menu on creator videos.
- Creators can still find their full dislike counts inside YouTube Studio.
- The rollout for content creators is scheduled to happen in the coming weeks.
Following reports earlier this week when at least two users on X shared screenshots suggesting that the video platform was testing the removal of the dislike button, platform representatives have officially stepped in to clarify the situation and dismiss the rumors circulating online.
On Wednesday, YouTube spokesperson Kimberly Taylor provided an official statement to The Verge, explicitly confirming that the company is not testing the suppression of the dislike button for everyday viewers, putting an end to speculation sparked by the leaked screenshots.
"We are not testing hiding the dislike button on YouTube for users. We’re introducing a new UI for creators on their own uploaded videos, where dislike is behind the three-dot menu, and as always, they can find their full dislike counts in Studio, alongside other analytics."

This particular interface modification specifically targets content creators rather than the general audience. According to Taylor, the updated layout will officially begin rolling out to creators in the coming weeks, giving channel owners a newly organized view for their uploaded content.
This adjustment for creators follows a series of significant UI and policy shifts regarding the dislike button on YouTube. The platform previously hid public dislike counts starting in 2021 to mitigate online harassment and creator targeted attacks, and it completely removed the dislike button from Shorts earlier this year. Moving the button behind a menu for creators aligns with the platform's long-term strategy of refining how engagement metrics are displayed and managed.
The upcoming rollout represents the latest in a string of deliberate interface adjustments designed to balance user experience and creator analytics across the streaming platform.
