- Thailand to host ECWC17 for the first time in the ASEAN region at BITEC Bangkok
- Scheduled for August 18-20, 2027, alongside the THECA 2027 exhibition
- Targeting over 3,000 executives, engineers, and researchers from 30+ countries
- Focusing on advanced printed circuit board and hardware technologies for the AI era
The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), in collaboration with the Thailand Printed Circuit Association (THPCA), is preparing to host the 17th Electronic Circuits World Convention (ECWC17). The prestigious global event is scheduled to take place from August 18 to 20, 2027, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). This marks the historic first time the premier electronics assembly convention is being held within the ASEAN region, highlighting growing international confidence in Thailand's rapidly expanding electronics ecosystem.
The convention will run concurrently with Thailand Electronics Circuit Asia 2027 (THECA 2027), a major exhibition showcasing advanced printed circuit boards and electronic technologies. The BOI has set an ambitious target to attract over 3,000 executives, engineers, and researchers from more than 30 countries worldwide, providing a vital platform to discuss cutting-edge technologies powering chips, servers, and artificial intelligence systems.
"BOI is cooperating with the association and partner agencies to organize this event, viewing it as an opportunity to reinforce Thailand's role as one of the world's top four net exporters of AI-related hardware, alongside Taiwan, South Korea, and Malaysia."

Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the BOI, revealed these details following discussions with Phithan Ongkosit, President of the THPCA. He emphasized that hosting this global summit aligns with the vision of solidifying Thailand's position among the top four net exporters of AI hardware globally, joining Taiwan, South Korea, and Malaysia, while directly connecting local manufacturing bases and talent with global technology networks.
The ECWC event series rotates every three years among major global technology hubs, having originated in London in 1978 as the Printed Circuit World Convention, with its most recent 16th edition held in California, United States, in 2024. Bangkok's upcoming hosting will center around the core theme 'Interconnection Technology for the AI-Driven Future,' exploring innovations ranging from electronic circuit boards and chip substrates to advanced chip packaging.
Securing the hosting rights for ECWC17 underscores Thailand's robust industrial infrastructure and builds upon the country's successful hosting of major international gatherings, such as the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok. This momentum enhances foreign investor confidence and helps elevate the domestic electronics supply chain to meet stringent global standards.
The conference agenda is divided into eight key topics, including PCB manufacturing technology, advanced semiconductor packaging, electronic and system assembly including AI servers, smart factories, quality testing and control, green electronics, workforce development, and emerging technologies like photonics and AI hardware. Organizers aim to feature over 150 academic research presentations and more than 450 exhibitors across both ECWC17 and THECA 2027.
