- SpaceX has reportedly lifted restrictions on Ukraine's Starshield system.
- Ukrainian drones lost internet connection at speeds near 100 miles per hour.
- Elon Musk previously claimed Ukraine violated terms of service with drone strikes.
- Donald Trump reportedly called Musk on Wednesday to restore the service.
SpaceX appears to have lifted the restrictions previously imposed on the Ukrainian military's use of Starshield, the military-grade variant of the company's Starlink internet network.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Defense Minister Evgeniy Khmara informed reporters that Starshield is operating normally once again, although the military continues to conduct tests and has not yet received an explanation for the prior restrictions.
This development follows a 10-day period duringซึ่ง Ukrainian drones lost internet connectivity when traveling at speeds of around 100 miles per hour. The disruption caused the military to lose control over several drones, while forcing others to fly slower and become more vulnerable to threats.
"Zelensky has gone too far."
Elon Musk
The restoration comes after President Donald Trump reportedly placed a call to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday, requesting him to restore the Starshield service.

The reliance on private aerospace and satellite infrastructure in modern combat zones highlights the immense geopolitical influence held by tech executives. Because Starlink and Starshield serve as critical communications backbones for military operations, disagreements between tech leaders and political figures can directly impact battlefield capabilities and national security outcomes.
Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk directed SpaceX to throttle Ukraine's access to Starlink, with certain sources indicating he discussed the move with the Trump administration beforehand. Musk asserted in a post on X that Ukraine violated Starlink's terms of service by utilizing it for offensive drone attacks.
