- Over half of enterprise customers spending $100K+ annually now use both Claude and first-party apps
- H1 2026 revenue surged to $16.3 billion, up significantly from $1.2 billion year-over-year
- Key risks include potential channel conflicts and competition from cloud giant partners
Anthropic's S-1 registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission sheds light on the strategic playbook driving its enterprise customer retention. By building a cross-product ecosystem reminiscent of tech giants like Amazon and Uber, the AI firm has successfully increased product stickiness among major business accounts.
According to the filing, more than half of customers spending at least $100,000 annually now utilize both the Claude platform and a first-party application like Claude Code or Cowork. This marks a substantial increase from about 30% at the close of the previous year, highlighting the rapid enterprise adoption rate.

As of September 30, Anthropic recorded over 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000, more than 1,900 customers spending upwards of $1 million, and roughly 250 enterprise accounts spending $10 million or more per year. This momentum drove net revenue retention to approximately 900% by the end of the third quarter.
"The speed and depth of our enterprise customer adoption are powerful evidence of Claude’s position at the frontier of AI."
Anthropic S-1 Filing
Contrasting itself with legacy SaaS providers, Anthropic pitches Claude not as a static product with a single use case, but as a rapidly advancing frontier AI ecosystem spanning foundational models, developer platforms, and direct end-user applications. The company notes that advancements in any single layer compound across all three to accelerate capability delivery.
Anthropic's strategy of converting API-first customers into dedicated app users mirrors the proven enterprise expansion playbooks of cloud providers. By embedding tools like Claude Code for engineers and Cowork for general workforces, the company effectively increases switching costs, making its comprehensive ecosystem exceedingly difficult for businesses to abandon.
Despite reporting impressive revenue growth of $16.3 billion for the first half of 2026—up from $1.2 billion the previous year—the filing cautions against potential headwinds. Hyperscaler partners AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure increasingly view Anthropic as a competitor, raising risks that these cloud providers might prioritize their own infrastructure needs or rival investments over Anthropic's compute demands.
