Apple has officially released iOS 27.2, bringing long-awaited Apple Pencil support to the foldable iPhone Duo. The tech giant previously indicated that pencil compatibility for its first foldable device would arrive later in the year. Along with this addition, the update introduces an Edge Light feature designed to illuminate the user's face during video calls on the iPhone Duo.
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, utilizing revamped iOS 27 controls built for seamless cross-screen navigation. While numerous major applications such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Microsoft Outlook are already optimized for the device's expanded display real estate, some apps continue to undergo refinement.

The iOS 27.2 update also empowers Siri AI to execute suggested actions within the Messages app, alongside expanding language support to include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Furthermore, according to reports from 9to5Mac, Apple is rolling out integration for Google’s SynthID AI watermark within the Photos app and Image Playground.
The rollout of iOS 27.2 represents a crucial software milestone for Apple's debut foldable device, bridging the gap between smartphone portability and tablet-like productivity through Apple Pencil integration. By simultaneously enhancing on-device AI capabilities and multimedia tools, the update reinforces the ecosystem utility of the 7.6-inch inner display.
Additional smaller enhancements include user profile support on the Apple TV app for iPhone. The Apple Podcasts app has replaced its Up Next queue with a New Episodes list accompanied by a Continue Playing section underneath, alongside the introduction of the new Apple Music logo. Furthermore, group FaceTime calls now incorporate dual capture capability, enabling users to broadcast views from both their selfie and rear cameras concurrently.
Alongside iOS 27.2, Apple also launched macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and HomePod 27.2.
