Italian automaker Fiat has turned heads by presenting its brand-new Multiplina electric concept vehicle at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The car draws direct inspiration from the original 1956 Fiat 600 Multipla, echoing a historic vehicle that famously challenged conventional automotive proportions by maximizing passenger space within an extremely compact footprint.
Measuring just over three meters or roughly 9.8 feet in length, the new concept car stands 1.4 meters wide and 1.53 meters high. While its dimensions place it close to Fiat's smaller two-seat Topolino, the additional length successfully creates room for a four-passenger seating arrangement spread across two rows, aided by expansive side windows and a forward-positioned windshield.

On the outside, the Multiplina adopts an almost continuous volume shape featuring a cream-colored upper section that wraps around the windows and extends toward the front. This contrasts with the cheerful orange lower bodywork, which boasts gently inflated surfaces and short overhangs. The wheels sit closely positioned to the corners, accompanied by round color-coordinated wheel covers and contemporary rectangular headlights that complement the retro aesthetic.
Several recognizable details tie the concept directly back to the 1956 predecessor. Horizontal lines across the front fascia recall the original car's signature mustache treatment, while ribbed detailing spans the rear hatch. Vertical oval taillights frame the edges of the body, and a rolled fabric roof introduces another familiar touch reminiscent of Fiat's open-air city vehicles.
The blending of vintage design cues with modern electric vehicle technology has become a powerful trend in the automotive industry. By reinterpreting iconic retro silhouettes, manufacturers can evoke a strong sense of nostalgia while addressing contemporary urban challenges such as traffic congestion and parking scarcity. This design philosophy helps transform practical microcars from mere utility vehicles into emotionally engaging lifestyle products.
Underneath its compact body, the concept relies on a fully electric L7 heavy quadricycle architecture, a European vehicle classification positioned between lightweight urban runabouts and standard passenger cars. Fiat describes this proposed category as a Multi-Purpose Quadricycle. Although official battery capacity and driving range figures remain unannounced, the Multiplina joins Fiat's broader micromobility lineup alongside the Topolino and Tris, aimed squarely at short urban journeys.
