- Designboom launches a new curated drop focusing on vertical wall design.
- Features unique items like magnetic perching birds and a kung fu kinetic clock.
- Includes bespoke textile and stone-textured murals made in the EU.
Architecture and design platform Designboom has introduced its latest curated collection titled "Beyond the Wall," presenting a handpicked selection of dynamic surfaces and vertical objects designed to transform blank walls into expressive artistic canvases. This release shifts creative focus toward vertical boundaries with innovative home accents.
Among the highlights is "Mybird" by South Korean studio ilsangisang, conceived as a biophilic companion object inspired by traditional birds of luck and hope such as the Korean magpie and bluebird. Equipped with integrated neodymium magnets in its feet, the bird perches securely onto metal surfaces or appliances while holding notes or plant clippings with its curious head-turned stance.

For daily organization, Chihong's "V / envelope and key holder" offers a minimal folded steel profile designed to cradle mail and keys without visual clutter. Meanwhile, Martina Banozic Textiles introduces the "Ombre bespoke wall mural," produced in the EU on premium linen or silk finishes, featuring subtle chromatic transitions that soften interior architectural boundaries.
Another striking piece is the "Kung fu time clock," which turns standard timekeeping into an animated spectacle by translating Chinese martial arts movements into clock hands. The figure uses its upper body as the hour hand, one leg as the minute hand, and an extended leg as the constantly moving second hand, generating a new martial pose every second.
The curated shop drops by Designboom highlight a growing trend where influential design media outlets directly empower independent studios and designers by providing a global showcase and zero-commission e-commerce platform, bridging the gap creator-to-consumer.
The collection also features the DIY 'oh-mobile' kit—a surreal paper mobile that sways gently on air currents—and a non-repeating stone custom wall mural that brings raw mineral depth indoors without heavy masonry. These objects collectively redefine how vertical interior spaces can be utilized.
