Online travel giant MakeMyTrip has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Bengaluru-based ride-pooling platform Quick Ride, marking a strategic push to broaden its ground transportation ecosystem. This new addition complements the company's existing ground transport services, which include intercity bus bookings through redBus and intercity car rentals via Savaari.
Prior to the acquisition, Quick Ride underwent an internal corporate restructuring by shifting its ride-pooling operations and brand into a newly formed company called Co Ride Mobility. Meanwhile, its electric vehicle taxi business remains with iDisha Info Labs, and Quick Ride's original promoters will continue to run day-to-day operations. MakeMyTrip has not disclosed the precise financial terms or exact ownership percentage of the deal, other than confirming a majority holding.

Quick Ride connects commuters traveling along overlapping routes, allowing them to share rides and split commuting costs efficiently. The platform also collaborates with corporate offices, IT parks, and business campuses, providing MakeMyTrip with access to a consistent base of everyday commuter customers rather than solely relying on occasional holiday travelers.
This acquisition highlights MakeMyTrip's strategy to diversify its revenue streams as its core air travel business experiences softer demand. By integrating a service used on routine weekdays, the company gains a valuable tool to increase app engagement and potentially convert daily commuters into regular travel customers.
The investment aligns with the company's fiscal performance for the second quarter ending September 30, 2026, where non-air bookings reached 63.2% of the gross bookings mix, up from 61.5% a year prior, demonstrating steady growth across its broader travel and ancillary services portfolio.
