On August 1, 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul revealed the progress of the five-body murder investigation in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, stating that the evidence is solid enough to prosecute the main suspects and accomplices. He has instructed police officers to compile a rigorous case file to close any legal loopholes and expand investigations into drug networks and potentially related crimes.
Following a progress tracking meeting, officials confirmed that two main suspects have been apprehended alongside multiple accomplices. Investigators found a connection between the murder of two Russian siblings and the killing of a Thai family of three, bringing the total death toll to five. Authorities are further investigating whether the suspects are linked to additional drug offenses or other illegal activities.

Anutin also requested cooperation from the media regarding news reporting, asking them to refrain from using the word tourist to prevent public misunderstanding. He explained that the deceased Russian victims had resided in Thailand for over seven years, traveled in and out of the country regularly, and lived with their families, rather than being newly arrived tourists.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed condolences and apologized to the families of the Russian victims and the Russian people, assuring that the perpetrators will face the fullest extent of the law with no bail permitted.
