Perplexity Teammates: AI Agents for Ongoing Teamwork

Following the release of its web-browsing AI assistant in Comet back in July 2025 for tasks like restaurant bookings, Perplexity has taken a major leap forward by introducing Teammates, AI agents built specifically for ongoing professional workflows rather than one-off errands.

Teammates builds upon the Perplexity Computer system, acting as a collaborative teammate that handles long-term tasks from project planning and coordination to adapting when priorities shift. Each teammate accesses user tools and files while continuously learning across cross-functional tasks.

A core strength of Teammates is its memory capacity, retaining project goals, work history, and user feedback—such as remembering that a specific agency requires a two-week notice to automatically adjust future schedules. They can also collaborate across teams seamlessly via Slack channels.

Under the hood, Teammates integrates Projects, Skills, and Memory features, allowing agents to utilize research data, follow specific writing skills, and automate pipeline reviews. Regarding security, Teammates utilizes existing Computer permission systems, running in isolated environments with encrypted credentials.
