The controversy kicked off when Green dropped an incongruous phrase, "I appreciate the pushback," right in the middle of a video published on the educational channel Complexly. This prompted viewers to speculate that he had utilized a chatbot to draft the script and accidentally kept the system's prompt response in the final cut.

He further clarified that he is not a pure AI-hater while outlining several apprehensions regarding the technology, including its detrimental footprint on climate change and the alarming speed at which tech giants are consolidating economic power.
As Green takes time to figure out how to restore his creative standards, he will be pausing or posting less frequently across his various YouTube channels. He expressed a desire to produce more meditative projects where the writing comes entirely from deep personal reflection, alongside more unscripted, direct-to-camera thoughts.
