The Thai Film Archive (Public Organization), in collaboration with the Thai Film Foundation and the Department of Cultural Promotion under the Ministry of Culture, is bringing the historic Nang Loeng neighborhood back to life through a special event, 'Cinematic Nang Loeng: Thai Film Entertainment', to welcome the long weekend in late July. Scheduled from July 28 to August 1, 2026, the event invites movie buffs to step back in time and fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of classic Thai cinema at Sala Chalerm Thani, a historic wooden movie theater within the Nang Loeng Market community.
The film screening program has curated historically and culturally significant Thai works, ranging from classic film era movies to transition-period pictures. The event kicks off with an immortal masterpiece from Asvavin Motion Pictures telling a tragic love story, alongside a newsreel of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun visiting the 'Ruean Phae' film exhibition back in 1961 as an opening feature. This will be followed by the directorial debut of Piak Poster, who revolutionized the Thai film industry with innovative cinematic language and storytelling techniques.
