- Anker Soundcore Boom 2 is currently discounted by nearly half.
- Features an IPX7 rating and the ability to float on water.
- Built for rugged outdoor environments rather than precise audiophile listening.
For those planning trips to the pool or the beach, the Anker Soundcore Boom 2 speaker is currently heavily discounted at nearly half off. The device features an IPX7 waterproof rating and a design that allows it to float independently, giving users peace of mind during outdoor activities near water.
If the speaker accidentally falls into the water, it will bob back up to the surface on its own. While music playback will temporarily cut out because Bluetooth signals cannot travel through water, the primary benefit is that the hardware itself survives without sustaining any damage.

An IPX7 waterproof rating indicates that a device can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for roughly 30 minutes. Combined with a buoyant chassis, floatable speakers provide an extra layer of security for water-bound social gatherings by preventing the device from sinking out of reach.
When it comes to design, the focus leans heavily toward durability rather than sleek refinement. Reviews note that while the audio output is loud, it lacks the balanced mid and high frequencies found in competitors like the JBL Flip 6 or Sony SRS-XB23.
Users can mitigate some of these acoustic limitations using the companion mobile app, which allows for EQ adjustments and lighting control. However, as noted by PCMag, this unit is not intended for critical listening sessions or for consumers who prioritize strict audio precision.
Ultimately, this hardware shines best for individuals needing a reliable audio companion capable of enduring unpredictable environments, delivering high volume effortlessly, and lasting through a full day of heavy use.
