A major development in the ongoing online financial scam investigation unfolded as the Department of Special Investigation released an official statement regarding the issuance of summonses for Mr. Rattapoom and three other individuals. The suspects were instructed to report to inquiry officials to acknowledge formal charges following previous findings regarding financial trails.
The incident took place on Monday, August 3, 2026, when a team of special inquiry officials from the Technology and Information Crime Division executed summonses for Mr. Phawut, Mr. Rattapoom, Mr. Phuritat, and Mr. Thanakorn. All four individuals subsequently traveled to meet with the inquiry officials to acknowledge the charges in person.

Regarding the specifics of the legal action, the special inquiry committee formally charged all four individuals with a total of seven serious offenses. These encompass conspiracy to borrow money constituting public fraud, public fraud, joint operation of securities brokerage businesses without a license, joint operation of derivatives businesses without a license or registration, joint computer input of falsified data likely to cause public damage, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and joint money laundering.
As for the broader prosecution strategy, special inquiry officials are preparing to take legal action against a total of 47 suspects. In this current phase, summonses were issued for Mr. Phawut, Mr. Rattapoom, Mr. Phuritat, and Mr. Thanakorn, bringing the total number of individuals who have gradually received summonses to acknowledge charges to 10 persons.
Large-scale financial scam investigations involving dozens of suspects typically present high complexity in tracking fund flows and gathering digital evidence. Staggering the issuance of summonses allows investigators to maintain tighter control over the proceedings, while the legal framework strictly upholds the presumption of innocence until a final court judgment is rendered.
Following the formal notification of charges, the special inquiry committee released all four individuals without requiring any financial bail or securities. This decision aims to grant them the opportunity to compile evidence and exercise their legal rights within the justice system to establish facts and prove their innocence.
Previously, before the DSI announcement of these charges, Mr. Rattapoom denied all allegations and clarified that the financial trail detected by authorities amounted to only 25 million baht rather than 142 million baht. He further explained that the funds originated from his medical face mask trading business during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
