- Digital Economy Minister clarifies leaked key figures' data is not a hack
- Origin traced to a single IP address and location with two login attempts
- Authorities have already shut down the vulnerable system to stop further leaks
- Minister believes there is a high possibility of political involvement
On August 5, 2026, at 10.10 AM at Government House, Mr. Chaiyanak Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), addressed the recent publication of government leaders' personal information on the internet. He stated that the investigation has made significant progress and asked the public to wait for the team to officially announce the detailed findings.
Based on preliminary findings, Mr. Chaiyanak confirmed that the incident was not a cyberattack or hacking. Instead, investigators discovered that the data originated from a single IP address and a single location, with an account logging into the system twice. He emphasized that the system in question has already been shut down, assuring citizens that no further data leaks will occur through this channel.
Technically speaking, data leakage originating from a single IP and location often points toward internal access issues, misconfigured server permissions, or the misuse of privileged user accounts. This differs from external network intrusions like conventional hacking, allowing investigators to narrow down the source much more efficiently.

When asked about the exact physical location of the IP address, Mr. Chaiyanak requested patience while the technical team thoroughly verifies where it came from, while reiterating that it stems from a single point.
Regarding speculation that political motives might be behind the leak, the DES Minister stated that based on the observed behavior, he believes there is a high probability of political involvement. However, he noted that it is too early to draw a definitive conclusion and urged the public to wait for official investigative results from relevant agencies.
Additionally, when questioned about whether the leaked photo of him was authentic, Mr. Chaiyanak clarified that it was an outdated picture from his previous national identification card, which also revealed personal details including his address at 40/10 Thetsaban Nimit Tai Road, Prachaniwet 1 Village, alongside contact emails and phone numbers.
