At least three individuals, including a young child, lost their lives during overnight Russian military strikes near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, local authorities confirmed. In the early hours of Saturday, powerful ballistic missiles impacted areas east of the capital, startling residents just days after a separate nationwide bombardment left 21 people dead.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration, stated that the ballistic missile attack claimed three lives and left another three people wounded. He added that falling debris severely damaged nearby residential apartment buildings and vehicles, while a separate building caught fire due to the impact.

Emergency response crews were deployed to battle active blazes at a building and a fuel tank within the Kyiv area, according to a Telegram update posted by Mayor Vitaly Klitchko. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, marking his first official visit to the country to hold discussions with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić regarding economic cooperation, security matters, and European Union relations.
Zelensky's diplomatic outreach to Serbia highlights Kyiv's ongoing strategy to broaden international backing despite regional diplomatic hurdles. Although Serbia has provided aid and expressed support for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction while pursuing EU membership, President Vučić has notably declined to implement economic sanctions against Moscow, illustrating the delicate diplomatic balance in the region.
The Ukrainian president noted that the supply of missile interceptors from international allies has been significantly reduced over the course of the year. This development followed operations where the Ukrainian military successfully struck the Ilsky and Syzran oil refineries deep inside Russia, as well as Moscow-linked vessels in the Black Sea, actions which Zelensky stated were aimed at cutting off oil revenues fueling Russia's military campaign.
