A high-profile investment group featuring Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos has advanced negotiations to purchase approximately a 30% stake in Liverpool, according to information obtained by BBC Sport.
The group operates under the leadership of British-Indian millionaire businessman Amit Bhatia and counts Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin among its members.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) acknowledged last month that the consortium had formally expressed interest in acquiring a strategic minority investment in the club.
Bhatia, who is the son-in-law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, recently stepped down after serving as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years.

American entrepreneur Bezos, 62, currently stands as the fourth-richest individual globally. Forbes estimates his total net worth to be roughly $256bn, equivalent to £192bn.
FSG initially acquired Liverpool for £300m back in 2010 and previously parted with a minority stake in the Merseyside club to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity. When BBC Sport reached out to FSG regarding these latest updates, they declined to offer further comments.
The involvement of tech titans like Jeff Bezos and Eduardo Saverin highlights the growing convergence of Silicon Valley wealth and elite European football. Securing a minority stake allows FSG to retain operational control while injecting fresh capital and tapping into world-class digital and business networks that could elevate Liverpool's global brand even further.
Bezos stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021 to serve as executive chairman while retaining an 8% stake in the tech giant. He also owns The Washington Post and Blue Origin. Although he previously weighed up potential bids for NFL franchises Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks, he ultimately walked away from those opportunities, signaling that Liverpool could mark his official entry into professional sports ownership.
