On August 10 at Government House, Mr. Yossanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), alongside Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, Minister of Education, revealed policy directives to drive Thai education forward by utilizing the Education Sandbox mechanism as a pilot area before expanding successful outcomes nationwide.

Regarding curriculum adjustments, the administration plans to pilot the Curriculum & AI Literacy Framework, scheduled for completion by September. The evaluation will focus on four core PISA-aligned skills: reading, mathematics and science, communication, and digital/AI skills, integrated directly into existing subjects through modified learning and assessment methods.
Employing the Education Sandbox mechanism allows the government to test policies in controlled environments, mitigating risks before nationwide rollout. Shifting toward competency-based learning, AI literacy, and flexible credit accumulation reflects global educational trends prioritizing lifelong learning and bridging opportunity gaps for at-risk students.
Furthermore, flexible education is being promoted under the Thailand Zero Dropout PLUS initiative by developing a Credit Bank Sandbox. This system accommodates learning outcomes from online platforms, vocational streams, and local communities while directly connecting databases to the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS), enabling at-risk youth to accumulate credits for future university enrollment.
On the management and administrative front, officials are instructed to study flexible transfer guidelines for school administrators in innovation areas to align with provincial education committees, alongside contingency plans for when the current Education Sandbox Act expires.
Simultaneously, schools are being elevated into safe zones through the Student Safety and Protection Sandbox, enforcing a strict Zero Tolerance policy against bullying and harassment. This involves cooperating with the Department of Mental Health for student screenings, launching secret reporting channels via Traffy Fondue for Education, and conducting regular teacher training and emergency drills.
