An overnight barrage of drone strikes dealt a heavy blow to Russian agricultural infrastructure and grain export terminals, with local officials confirming that three people, including an eight-year-old-child, were killed and another 24 injured. Meanwhile, Ukraine's military reported that four Russian warships, including two frigates, were also struck during the operation, though Moscow has not yet issued a comment regarding the naval claims.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a social media post that the occupying fleet and all supporting infrastructure will remain unsafe as long as Russian aggression continues. Most of Russia's Black Sea fleet is currently docked in Novorossiysk, one of the country's largest ports, after being forced to evacuate its former home base in Sevastopol on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula due to vulnerability from Ukrainian attacks.
A major grain trading company confirmed to Russia's TASS news agency that its terminal had been hit, while another firm reported the same to Reuters and Russian outlet RBK. Repeated explosions echoed across Novorossiysk throughout the night as air defences engaged aerial objects. An emergency situation was declared in the city on Wednesday after the drones struck port areas, damaged pipelines, and suspended local water supplies.

Elsewhere in the region, regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that a man was killed by drone debris and dozens of buildings, including residential homes, were damaged across the Krasnodar region after being targeted by hundreds of drones overnight. In retaliation, Moscow launched overnight aerial strikes that killed at least 11 civilians in Ukraine between Tuesday and Wednesday, with the majority resulting from ballistic missiles and glide bombs hitting the southern city of Zaporizhzhia.

Ukraine's increasing capability to execute long-range strikes deep into Russian territory and key Black Sea shipping hubs marks a critical shift in the maritime conflict. By disrupting Russia's grain logistics in Novorossiysk and surrounding ports, Kyiv is applying direct pressure on Moscow's export revenues. Because Russia and Ukraine supply a substantial portion of global grain to buyers in North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia, these escalating port attacks threaten to further tighten global food supplies and drive up international prices.
