At 9:00 AM on August 13, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the security policy implementation workshop for local administrative officials, Group 1, held at the Challenger Building, Impact Muang Thong Thani. The event gathered key officials including the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, provincial governors, district chiefs, and regional police commanders from Provincial Police Regions 1, 2, and 7.
The meeting followed a series of workshops held over the past two months between provincial governors and police commanders, which established 9 core areas requiring collaborative enforcement:
- Land encroachment
- Cybercrime
- Nominee businesses
- Money laundering
- Influential figures and local thugs
- Nonalienated debt resolution
- Tourist safety
- Database integration
- Drug suppression
The Prime Minister stated that while these challenges are ongoing, effective management will secure the nation and improve public welfare. He specifically highlighted the alarming volume of firearms circulating throughout Thailand.
Highlighting the statistics, the Prime Minister noted that after excluding children and the elderly, the ratio drops to roughly one gun for every three to four citizens, creating a risk profile akin to a cowboy territory. In response, the Department of Provincial Administration has suspended issuing P.3 permits for general firearm purchases, while P.12 permits have remained unavailable for three years. Additionally, the government has tasked Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprachuap with drafting a brand new Firearms Act.

Emphasizing cooperation between administrative authorities and law enforcement addresses long-standing bureaucratic silos in Thailand's local security management. By mandating the use of a unified One Data system, the government aims to bridge information gaps between ministries, enabling proactive crime prevention rather than purely reactive measures.

Concluding the session, the Prime Minister instructed officials to establish rigorous checkpoints focusing on illegal weapons and narcotics. He encouraged officers to protect themselves while strictly enforcing the law against illicit arms, adding a firm warning regarding political interference. He instructed officials to record any phone calls from individuals falsely dropping names of cabinet ministers, assuring them that real ministers will never make such calls and that any verified intervention would result in the immediate termination of the offender.
