Late in the evening at 9:15 PM on August 14 in Ubon Ratchathani province, a notable political gathering drew public attention as Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul attended a religious funeral ceremony for former Deputy Interior Minister Kriang Kal Tinarak.
The event served as a significant meeting ground for several prominent political figures, including four current and former prime ministers: Anutin Charnvirakul, Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, and Somchai Wongsawat. Toward the end of the ceremony before Thaksin's departure, Anutin was captured performing a traditional gesture of deep respect by bowing to Thaksin's lap.

Following the ceremony, Anutin spoke to reporters regarding the interaction, clarifying that paying such respects to Thaksin is entirely natural given that Thaksin had shown him kindness by appointing him as a minister in his government as early as 2004, noting that he was among the final ministers appointed under that quota.
"Whenever I meet Mr. Thaksin, I must bow to him because I served as a minister in his government back in 2004, and I was among the final ministers upon whom he bestowed his kindness."
When asked about the topics discussed during their encounter, Anutin revealed that no heavy political negotiations took place, as they primarily exchanged casual greetings and inquired about each other's well-being. He also mentioned interacting with Paetongtarn and Somchai, noting that they are all familiar faces with whom he shares a long-standing acquaintance.
