- Yossanan unveiled the Thailand Brain Initiative to unlock human brain potential in Bangkok.
- OKMD was assigned to coordinate networks of researchers, medical experts, and the private sector.
- Five core missions span health, learning, neurotechnology, and cultural economy.
- The framework aims for finalization by the end of 2026 to foster an intelligence-driven economy.
Yossanan delivered a keynote address during the "Brain Longevity Bootcamp 2026," hosted by the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD) in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The event took place from August 14 to 16, 2026, at the Environmental Library in Wachirabenchathat Park (Rot Fai Park) in Bangkok, marking the first of four planned event series.
The Thailand Brain Initiative concept stems from recognizing Thailand's potential to expand brain science knowledge beyond conventional medicine. It connects brain studies with health, education, disability support, culture, technology, and the new economy, enabling the nation to compete through intellectual capital rather than low operational costs.

The initiative outlines five primary missions:
- Brain Health & Well-being (Live Better): Applying brain science to health and Scientific Wellness.
- Learning & Human Potential: Unlocking personalized learning for people of all ages.
- Neurotechnology & Disability: Developing brain technology and Brain–Computer Interfaces (BCI) for individuals with disabilities.
- Sensory & Neurocultural Economy: Decoding Thai cultural capital and sensory experiences into economic value.
- Brain-Inspired Computing: Advancing neural networks, multi-sensory AI, and novel chips based on brain mechanisms.
The introduction of the Thailand Brain Initiative highlights the country's strategic pivot toward a knowledge-based economy, moving away from low-cost manufacturing dependencies. By combining Thailand's unique cultural heritage and wellness strengths with neuroscience and AI, the nation aligns with global initiatives such as the United States' Brain Initiative, fostering higher-value economic growth.
“If we build technology that creates hope for people with disabilities, but ultimately they cannot actually use it, then it fails to meet the objective. Therefore, the most important thing is how to make the technology high quality, affordable, and scalable.”
YossananOKMD has been tasked with spearheading this initiative, collaborating with the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), universities, medical professionals, engineers, and the private sector. The framework is targeted for completion by the end of 2026, laying a robust foundation for Thailand's brain science community and establishing a new growth engine for the country.
