The website 9to5Mac has compiled and outlined six key features expected in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max smartphones, which Apple has scheduled to launch this coming September alongside the foldable iPhone Ultra.
In terms of exterior design, the overall look is expected to remain consistent with the previous iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, a notable change is the reduction in size of the Dynamic Island, made possible by relocating Face ID hardware beneath the screen. On the rear, Apple is expected to closely match the colors of the aluminum frame and glass, introducing a new Dark Cherry or burgundy shade to replace the previous Cosmic Orange.

Regarding performance, Apple is set to equip the devices with the Apple A20 Pro chipset, manufactured using a 2-nanometer process node alongside Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging technology to enhance energy efficiency and AI processing capabilities.
The camera system represents one of the most significant upgrades, introducing an adjustable aperture mechanism that gives users greater control over depth of field. Users will be able to isolate subjects with a shallow depth of field, maintain a medium depth, or keep everything in the frame sharp. Additionally, the telephoto lens will feature a wider aperture alongside professional-grade camera application features.

Apple's shift toward a 2-nanometer manufacturing process and proprietary modems highlights its long-term hardware independence strategy. This not only improves power management but also strengthens on-device AI computing capabilities, which demand increasingly intensive hardware resources.
