Marvel announces Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, a new Black Panther, and more

While perhaps less dramatic than in years past, Marvel nonetheless had some massive reveals lined up for Comic-Con, giving enthusiastic fans plenty of major casting news and release dates to look forward to.
The highest profile announcement of the presentation was the confirmation that Ryan Gosling will officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. The standalone feature will be directed by Shawn Levy, known for Deadpool & Wolverine, and is currently scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2028.

The studio also brought out filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who officially confirmed that Black Panther III is slated for release on December 15th, 2028. During the presentation, Coogler introduced David Jonsson, recognized for his roles in The Long Walk and Alien: Romulus, who will portray T’Chala’s son and step into the mantle as the franchise's new Black Panther.
Casting an A-list star like Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider signals Marvel's continued strategy of bringing major Hollywood talent into the MCU. Coupled with Shawn Levy in the director's chair, the project blends high-profile star power with proven blockbuster direction, injecting fresh momentum into the studio's upcoming slate.
In addition to these casting updates, Marvel showed off a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday and teased additional cast members. In a humorous crowd interaction, Ryan Reynolds stood up to ask directors Joe and Anthony Russo if there was room for Deadpool in the movie. The directors noted the film was basically finished, though they might be able to work something out. It was also confirmed during the panel that Hayley Atwell is returning as Peggy Carter.
