This sweeping update aims to bring game-changing features directly to the familiar search bar, making educational content more accessible and deeply understandable. Notably, the Gemini application now features Deep Research, allowing users to command the AI to investigate complex topics and immediately engage in voice discussions to review the findings together.

Alongside these upgrades, Google introduced the Gemini for Students campaign, granting eligible students a full 12 months of free access to its premium package. Participants gain access to a complete suite of learning tools, including Study Notebooks, Interactive Visualizations, automated quiz generation from notes, tracking tools, Gemini Live, and image generation features.
However, the platform implements specific tiering based on specifications and regions, and users must periodically re-verify their student status throughout the program. Additionally, the system mandates entering a payment method on day one, even though the service begins with a free trial period.
"Users must manually cancel the subscription before the billing date if they do not wish to continue after 12 months."
TechsauceOnce the 1-year free trial concludes, the system will automatically begin billing users at the standard regional rate, which is set at 189 Thai Baht per month in Thailand. Those wishing to opt out must cancel the service themselves before the renewal date. Registration for this promotion is currently open and runs through December 31, 2026.
Google's aggressive move to capture the educational sector by offering free premium AI access highlights a long-term strategy to cultivate young user bases and shift search habits toward AI-driven analytical tools. This reflects a broader global shift in educational technology toward personalized, interactive learning assistants.
