- Google News on Android updates its personalized daily audio briefings feature.
- Publishers can add an interactive Preferred Sources button directly onto their websites.
Google will soon roll out a new capability that lets mobile app users tailor their Google Discover feed simply by typing out the types of content they wish to view. Reaching the Google app in the coming days, the feature utilizes artificial intelligence to automatically adjust the feed and retain user preferences for subsequent visits.
Users can locate this new option inside the three-dot menu found on their Google Discover feed. According to a demonstration video shared by Google, tapping the feature launches a chatbot-style interface where individuals can type out their specific preferences. The chatbot then confirms these selections and outlines the categories of content it will prioritize.

Should the initial output miss the mark, users retain the option to supply additional details to help the AI refine its understanding. From that point, hitting a refresh button applies the changes directly to the feed. This development offers simpler oversight of recommended articles, which typically rely on user activity across Google's search engine and associated apps. Beyond Google Discover, various social platforms have integrated AI feed controls, including YouTube, Instagram, Bluesky, and X.
The integration of conversational AI into content feeds highlights a broader industry shift toward giving consumers direct agency over algorithmic recommendations. By shifting from static menu toggles to natural language descriptions, tech platforms are making it significantly easier for users to curate their digital diets and filter out unwanted noise.
In addition to the Discover updates, Google announced several other modifications, such as an update allowing users to personalize daily audio briefings within the Google News app on Android.
Another update targets Preferred Sources, a feature designed to surface favorite outlets across Search’s top stories section, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. This change enables publishers to embed an interactive button directly on their web pages, letting readers add the publication to their preferred list instantly without leaving the site.
