On August 22, 2026, at 14:00, Prof. Dr. Yodsanan Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), in his capacity as chairman of the northern flood and drought prevention committee, traveled to Pua District in Nan Province for a fourth consecutive day to oversee urgent flood recovery operations and assist affected citizens.
During the visit, the primary inspection took place at the Ban Mon connection route, where construction of a temporary steel Bailey bridge has been successfully completed and opened for public transit. This swift infrastructure deployment has relieved local villagers who had been cut off from main transportation routes for four full days.

The deployment of Bailey bridges is a crucial tactical response in post-flood emergency management. These prefabricated steel structures can be rapidly assembled to replace damaged permanent bridges, restoring vital supply chains and emergency access to isolated communities within days of a disaster.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Yodsanan, accompanied by the President of the Nan Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) and his team, inspected the progress of another temporary bridge nearby. Residents on the opposite side had been cut off for three to four days, forced to cross by walking on logs while holding onto wire ropes to retrieve relief supplies. Construction is progressing rapidly and is expected to open by the evening of August 23.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated agencies for their prompt coordination and rapid response in resolving the crisis for the victims.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Dr. Yodsanan, alongside the Nan PAO and the Ministry of Public Health, distributed survival bags, essential consumer goods, and medical supplies to flood victims to alleviate their hardship and boost local morale.
