PM orders simplified flood relief procedures in Nan province

Following severe flash floods and landslides in Nan province, the Thai government has implemented urgent measures to support affected residents. On August 22, Ms. Ploythale Laksamiseangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul instructed all government agencies to proactively provide relief so citizens can resume their normal lives as quickly as possible.
To support financial aid distribution, the Comptroller General's Department has approved an expansion of the emergency contingency fund under the authority of the Governor of Nan province by an additional 100 million baht. This budget is designated specifically for covering emergency relief costs and repairing homes damaged by the overflowing floodwaters.

Furthermore, to reduce bureaucratic burdens on citizens, Deputy Minister of Interior Jedsat Thai-เศรษฐ์ emphasized that local administrative organizations must streamline operational procedures. Residents affected by the disaster are completely exempt from making copies of their national identity cards, house registration documents, or attaching flood damage photographs. Instead, they can simply report their information to local community leaders and village headmen, who will compile and forward the data to district officials.
This streamlined approach marks a vital shift in cutting through traditional bureaucratic red tape that often delays disaster relief efforts. By leveraging grassroots community networks and relaxing standard disbursement rules, the government aims to ensure financial aid reaches affected households efficiently during critical times.
The Comptroller General's Department has also authorized exceptions to standard regulations under the 2026 emergency disaster relief spending rules for Nan province, covering essential operations such as:
- Expenses for evacuating residents to safe zones and temporary shelters.
- Management costs for temporary shelters, including utilities, supplies, and mobile restrooms.
- Costs for cleaning materials to restore homes and public areas, along with operational compensation.
