Tak Bongkoch Recalls Ray MacDonald as Her First Leading Man

Tak Bongkoch Benjakaroon recently shared her deep gratitude and fond memories of working with veteran actor Ray MacDonald, recalling the time when he agreed to act as the leading man in her very first feature film directing debut, Pai In Love, marking her official transition from acting to behind-the-scenes filmmaking.

Initially, Tak reached out to several actors, but none were available. Being a first-time director, she faced hesitation from many in the industry. Gathering her courage, she contacted Mam, Ray's wife, to ask if Ray would be willing to star in the movie. To her surprise, Ray accepted immediately, telling her, "It's fine, I'll come and help." He did not bring up any payment demands, only asking for flight tickets for himself and his wife.

Throughout the production, Tak noted that Ray and his wife were cooperative, helpful, and never complained. Although Tak was initially nervous about directing a top-tier star, Ray's easygoing attitude—telling her to simply instruct him on what to do—gave her the confidence she needed. The success of the film ultimately led Sahamongkol Film to greenlight her next directorial project.
