The England men's cricket team is once again dealing with the fallout of an off-field controversy after fast bowler Brydon Carse was photographed in handcuffs surrounded by police officers outside a Derby nightlife venue. The latest incident adds to a growing list of disciplinary issues tarnishing the national team's reputation.
Carse's Durham teammate Matthew Potts is also visible in the images, alongside former England captain Ben Stokes in the background. The incident occurred while Carse was not on direct England duty, having been released from the first Test squad against Pakistan to play for Durham against Derbyshire ahead of reporting to Lord's for the second Test on Monday.

Tracking the numbers, eight of the 30 men currently holding England central contracts have been caught up in similar trouble over the past 10 months. Across four separate incidents during this period, two involved physical altercations with punches thrown, and another resulted in police intervention.
Previous incidents include Harry Brook being punched by a nightclub bouncer in Wellington alongside Jacob Bethell and Josh Tongue, Ben Duckett filmed drunk in Noosa, and Stokes and Gus Atkinson being present when a security staff member was struck in a London nightclub in June while breaching curfew rules.
