Guide to Worshiping Mae Takian: Incense and Offerings

Belief in sacred entities remains a significant part of Thai culture, particularly worshiping Mae Takian Thong, whom many people visit to seek blessings and good fortune as a mental anchor. In practice, the number of incense sticks used for worship is not strictly determined, as it depends primarily on the practitioner's specific purpose and intention.

Aside from lighting incense, preparing proper offerings is another essential step that believers observe. The items typically brought as offerings emphasize beauty and pleasant aromas, including:

• Three-colored or seven-colored fabrics for tying or dedicating to the Takian tree.
• Fragrances and perfumes, such as scented water, perfume, and traditional fragrant powders.
• Traditional Thai women's dresses, preferably in orange, gold, or pink.
• Fresh flowers such as lotus flowers, jasmine, or marigold garlands.
• Sweet beverages and fruit, including red sweet water, clean water, and auspicious fruits like bananas, oranges, or young coconuts, with a strict prohibition against offering raw meat.
