Natcha Boonchaiinsawat, a key figure of the People's Party, revealed that the party has officially petitioned the Election Commission (EC) regarding malicious actors using artificial intelligence (AI) to produce videos featuring the party logo and false information. The smear campaign aims to discredit Decharat Sukkamnerd, the party's candidate running in the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) mayoral race.
Although direct legal action against the creators remains challenging in certain aspects, the party's legal team is preparing to take action against all accounts posting and sharing the fabricated content under the Computer Crime Act. The party noted that AI-generated clips are easily created, allowing misinformation to spread rapidly and cause damage before the public can verify the truth.
Natcha also addressed specific fake news claims, such as rumors that the People's Party intends to scrap the 30-baht healthcare scheme and educational systems in the province. He firmly denied these allegations, stating that Decharat plans to maintain and enhance existing beneficial projects while continuing or expanding educational support using public tax revenues.

"What our opponents cannot do and cannot solve is creating AI clips. Not fighting in the ring, not punching on the field, but hitting below the belt, hitting outside the ring, creating fake news, and using AI in political battles."

Regarding the election campaign atmosphere, Natcha reminded Nonthaburi residents to cast their votes for the PAO mayoral election on September 20, 2026. As a metropolitan-adjacent province, Nonthaburi serves as a crucial signal for other regions. The party nominated Decharat, its policy center director and key strategist, aiming to establish Nonthaburi as a model for local administrative governance.
The deployment of AI and deepfake technology in Thai political campaigns highlights a growing regulatory gap for election authorities like the EC, as traditional campaign laws struggle to address modern digital manipulation. Meanwhile, local elections such as the Nonthaburi PAO race serve as high-stakes battlegrounds for national opposition parties seeking to prove their executive capability at the grassroots level.
Finally, the People's Party expressed confidence in collaborating with all eight Nonthaburi Members of Parliament to manage the 3,200-baht budget effectively, leaving the final decision to the voters of Nonthaburi.
