Sonos, the Californian audio brand, has introduced the Amp Multi, a compact streaming amplifier engineered to streamline complex residential audio setups. Developed in close collaboration with industry professionals, the system integrates Sonos hardware and software to deliver flexible multi-room control, broad streaming support, and reliable long-term performance across an entire installation lifecycle.
The system is designed to adapt as a house evolves, allowing any audio output to be assigned to any room simply by adding more units. Each of the eight amplified outputs on the Amp Multi can power up to three Sonos Architectural speakers, supporting multi-room installations without compromising sound quality or system stability.
Inside the minimal chassis, a Gallium Nitride (GaN) power architecture enables cool, fanless operation for long-term reliability behind walls or in tight spaces. Eight power channels can easily group across four zones, and multiple units link seamlessly to scale high-fidelity sound across larger layouts.

The integration of GaN power architecture in the Amp Multi marks a significant step for custom installation amplifiers. By reducing thermal output and improving energy efficiency, it allows manufacturers to build slim, fanless hardware that fits securely into confined equipment racks without risking heat accumulation or fan noise interference.
Built specifically for equipment racks, the compact unit features a space-saving flat-back design and recessed connectors. Physical installation requires just four screws to secure the hardware, and users can trigger a unique sound via the Sonos app to quickly identify specific units in crowded racks.
For challenging rooms, the ProTune calibration tool offers precise sound shaping via a 10-band parametric EQ and delay control, paired with pre-loaded acoustic profiles to guarantee balanced, high-fidelity sound tailored to any architectural environment.
