Family location-sharing and safety application Life360 expanded its pet-tracking capabilities on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, by launching a new product line featuring $7.99 scannable pet tags alongside additional pet care features that leverage the company's tracking network technology.
Life360 first entered the pet tech market last year by rolling out GPS pet trackers that utilized the lost-item-finding capabilities integrated into its platform following its 2021 acquisition of AirTag rival Tile. Through Tile, the company enables members to track various important items such as keys, handbags, luggage, and pets in addition to family location-sharing.
The company noted that since the feature's inception, families using the service have added more than 8 million pets to their accounts. However, the team discovered that not everyone wants to attach a bulky tracker to a pet's collar, nor does every owner require location-tracking features or advanced options like geofences and escape alerts.

In many instances, pet owners simply want their contact information displayed on the animal's tag, which is the exact use case supported by the new scannable pet tags. Families can seamlessly update their contact details through the Life360 app's pet profile section. Furthermore, the company is rolling out several new pet care tools that allow families to schedule care logs to track whether a pet has been fed, walked, given medication, or had its litter cleaned, ensuring everyone in the household stays informed.
By introducing lower-cost physical tags alongside lifestyle-driven software updates like Zoomies Alerts, Life360 is successfully broadening its market reach beyond premium GPS hardware. This strategy capitalizes on their established Tile ecosystem to capture pet owners who prefer simplicity over complex geofencing.
Another engaging addition is "Zoomies Alerts" for GPS trackers, which monitor sudden bursts of energy exhibited by pets during specific times of the day or evening. A new Weekly Roundup feature will also summarize other routines, detailing walking distances and identifying which family member provided the most pet care throughout the week.
Alongside these updates, the company is making its pet trackers more accessible. Previously restricted to higher-tier Platinum and Gold subscriptions, Pet GPS trackers are now bundled into the $99-per-year Silver packages. The new pet tags and GPS trackers are available for purchase on the company's website and via Amazon across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
