The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Seoul is currently hosting a major solo exhibition by Do Ho Suh, bringing together more than 500 drawings, sculptures, videos, and installations spanning four decades. The retrospective traces an artistic practice shaped by questions of home, migration, memory, and identity, moving from early experiments to major fabric reconstructions.
The exhibition spans multiple galleries including Galleries 3, 4, and 5, communal areas, the MMCA Studio, and the Seoul Box, allowing works from different periods to overlap. At the entrance to Gallery 3, Small Gate (2017) reconstructs the entrance of the Seongbuk-dong hanok where the artist once lived.

The display also features around 200 drawings created through a collaboration with Singapore-based print and paper workshop STPI. Since 2009, Suh has utilized a technique involving gelatin tissue and handmade paper with embedded thread, pushing drawing beyond conventional flat surfaces.
Gallery 5 gathers works closely associated with domestic space, such as Perfect Home: London, Horsham, New York, Berlin, Providence, Seoul (2024), which reconstructs his current London apartment incorporating exact architectural details from his past homes.
This comprehensive retrospective illustrates how Suh's early inquiries into the boundaries between objects and space laid the groundwork for his iconic fabric architectures, offering a profound commentary on displacement, memory, and transient contemporary dwelling.
The exhibition culminates outside Gallery 5 with Nest/s (2024), a 22-meter-long installation combining architectural forms from his residences and studios across Seoul, New York, London, and Berlin into a continuous sequence. The exhibition runs at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) in Seoul until February 9, 2027.
