MP Exposes Local Exam Extortion Ring Linked to DSI Officer

On August 28, 2026, Mr. Asaphol Sarntriphop, a Member of Parliament for Sisaket province representing the Bhumjaithai Party and Chairman of the House Committee on Corruption Prevention and Suppression, revealed details during a televised interview regarding a recent arrest made by the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD). The operation led to the detention of Mr. Prawit Charuratkul, also known as "Phuyai Heng," a former MP candidate for the Pheu Thai Party.

The arrest followed allegations that the suspect extorted 650,000 baht from victims by falsely claiming he could secure passing scores for local government civil service exams. The committee chairman emphasized that the operation was not conducted by an individual alone, but rather operated as an organized syndicate stretching upward to involve high-ranking personnel within the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) holding the rank of Police Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Asaphol further disclosed that the committee is in possession of crucial digital evidence, including Line chat logs showing victims attempting to demand refunds from a defeated former Member of Parliament. Investigations indicate that within Sisaket province, Mr. Prawit served as the primary leader of the local extortion network.
