Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, has expressed deep concern over public safety following weather forecasts of heavy rainfall from the Thai Meteorological Department, prompting an urgent directive for heightened disaster vigilance.
Yongyuth Nakviroj, Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources, stated that the Geohazards Operation Center has issued warnings to network volunteers and residents across 10 high-risk provinces, namely Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, and Phang Nga, to monitor potential landslides and flash floods between August 28 and 31.
The Ministry has emphasized specific safety guidelines and preparedness measures for residents living in vulnerable areas:
- Closely monitor weather updates and official announcements
- Exercise extreme caution in areas with accumulated rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters
- Network volunteers must continuously measure and report rainfall levels
