On August 29, a political social media exchange caught public attention after Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, published a post on his personal Facebook page stating, “Iron doesn’t melt. Ice cream does.” This followed his share of a user's post criticizing Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP for the People’s Party—commonly known as Itim—claiming he was decisively defeated overnight by Mr. Napinthorn Srisankampang, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.
Later that same day, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, Deputy Leader of the People’s Party, responded by publishing a post against an orange background. His message simply read, “Iron rusts. Ice cream doesn’t.” This clever wording directly played on the nickname of Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu and countered the metaphorical jab made earlier.
