On August 30, 2026, at 09:30 AM at the Democrat Party headquarters, list-MP and Deputy Leader Khandee Leopairut held a press conference regarding a lawsuit initiated against her by the contractor company behind the TH-AI Passport project, following her critical Facebook posts.
The legal action has raised serious questions from the opposition politician regarding whether this move constitutes a strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP) aimed at burdening individuals performing oversight duties for the public interest.
Khandee clarified that her original social media posts raised questions based on academic principles, ethical standards, and her legislative duties as an opposition MP, noting that her messages did not explicitly name the two contractor companies involved.

Prior to the legal dispute, on July 27, Khandee officially submitted an open letter detailing these concerns to the Minister of Digital Economy and Society through the proper official administrative channels.
Scrutinizing major state IT procurement projects like the TH-AI Passport often creates friction between legislative overseers and private contractors. Legal actions such as defamation lawsuits are frequently scrutinized by society as potential SLAPP suits, which can create a chilling effect on parliamentary oversight and public accountability.
