Staying in a building with a long history in a young country like Singapore is a rare find, but The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore delivers that exact experience through the renovation of two conserved buildings: Stamford House, a Venetian Renaissance-style structure built in 1904, and the Capitol Building, a neoclassical style building constructed in 1930 on the corner of Stamford Road and North Bridge Road, which was once a famous cinema district in the past.
This 155-room luxury hotel first welcomed guests on October 1, 2018, following meticulous restoration work by architect Richard Meier, before officially launching as the first Kempinski brand hotel in Singapore and serving as one of the final projects by the late Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim.
Although the corridor space leading to the rooms may feel somewhat narrow compared to luxury hotels in Bangkok, the Heritage room overlooking the side street features a spacious bathroom and an enclosed balcony with vintage-style cabinetry reminiscent of the colonial era. Inside the bathroom, there is a freestanding bathtub with a television positioned at the foot of the bed, along with a multi-functional shower set combining a rainshower, hand shower, and projected shower, complemented by Salvatore Ferragamo skincare products.

The hotel's location connects directly to the City Hall MRT station via an underground walkway and is close to landmark attractions such as Marina Bay Sands, Chijmes, the National Museum, and Merlion Park, as well as Raffles City shopping center and Capitol Theatre, a 977-seat theater featuring a vaulted ceiling adorned with golden zodiac constellation patterns.
