The House of Representatives Committee on Military Affairs traveled to Chanae District, Narathiwat Province, to investigate a shooting incident involving injured teenagers. The committee visited the primary victim, Mr. Sohleh, where his attending physician explained his wounds. The patient sustained a single gunshot entry wound measuring 1 centimeter in the abdomen and an exit wound of 2 to 3 centimeters near the pelvis. A 0.5-centimeter bullet fragment remained near the exit wound and is scheduled for surgical removal and forensic analysis.
According to interviews, Mr. Sohleh and accompanying witnesses maintained that on the night of the incident, three motorcycles were carrying four teenagers, including 20-year-old cousin Mr. Mukhlis Doroh sitting behind the rider. They reported hearing single gunshots fired from a high angle while an official helicopter was hovering overhead, with no other individuals lurking by the roadside. The bullet passed through Mr. Sohleh's abdomen and struck Mr. Mukhlis's right calf before they sought medical treatment at Chanae Hospital and later Narathiwat Hospital.

The committee subsequently met with Pol. Col. Weerasak Persala, Superintendent of Chanae Police Station, to review the overall security situation. Chanae district has recorded 10 security incidents, comprising 5 bombings, 3 arsons, 1 CCTV destruction, and this shooting as the 10th case. Police outlined that on the night of the incident, following a bomb report, forces established tactical roadblocks. Around 9:39 PM, four teenagers on three motorcycles passed through a checkpoint; after a 3 to 4-minute check revealed no illegal items, they were allowed to proceed. Between 10:07 PM and 10:10 PM, the station received word that a teenager from the group was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
Regarding physical evidence, officers inspected the scene at the first curved hill, recovering three 5.56mm cartridge cases at the base of a rubber tree, bullet marks on the ground and steel guardrail, and two pools of blood. Investigators also found an intact 5.56mm bullet on the seat of the victim's companion vehicle. Police clarified that 5.56mm ammunition is compatible with multiple weapon types, necessitating official laboratory verification from Forensic Science Center 10.
"Mr. Sohleh still insists that he was shot from a helicopter, as nothing else passed by except the official helicopter, and he clearly heard gunshots coming from above one by one."
Victim and eyewitnesses
The committee further met with Mr. Nuseng Lateh, the village head of Chang Phueak sub-district, along with three eyewitnesses—Mr. Adam Kaji, Mr. Hasan Lateh, and Mr. Mukhlis Doroh—to inspect bullet marks on the asphalt, rubber trees, and roadside guardrails showing vertical penetration. Local authorities and relevant agencies are continuing their coordination to process the investigation and provide proper assistance according to official procedures.
The Military Committee's on-site inspection highlights ongoing efforts to gather facts from all parties in Thailand's southern border provinces, where security conditions and operational constraints pose significant challenges. The centralization of forensic evidence processing at Forensic Science Center 10 for numerous cases underscores why scientific verification requires extended timelines, drawing public attention to the transparency of the justice process.
