On September 1, at the headquarters of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau Division 1 (CCIB 1), attorney Sirawaris Suankaew, widely known as Lawyer Moo, arrived to meet with investigative officers regarding a formal legal proceeding.
This legal action was initiated after Sirawaris received direct authorization from former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The objective is to take legal action against the owner of a specific Facebook account who disseminated false content online, an offense that potentially violates the Computer-related Crime Act alongside other relevant legal provisions.

Sirawaris emphasized that pursuing this case is a necessary step to safeguard legal rights, reputation, and fairness, adding that he intends to let the actual facts serve as proof against the defamatory claims.
The strict legal action against online fake news by high-profile political figures highlights a growing enforcement trend regarding digital defamation in Thailand. Under the Computer Crime Act, investigating agencies like CCIB 1 must employ specialized digital forensics to trace anonymous or pseudonymous social media profiles, turning online allegations into formal judicial investigations.
Meanwhile, Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor, Commander of CCIB 1, provided an update on the case, stating that the investigating team has officially accepted the complaint and recorded the preliminary statements from the authorized lawyer.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat further outlined the next steps, noting that cyber police will expedite technical investigations to verify the true identity behind the contested Facebook account before formally summoning the individual for questioning in accordance with standard legal procedures.
