Police Colonel Tawee Sodsong, a party-list Member of Parliament from the Prachachat Party, has submitted an urgent motion to the House of Representatives requesting the establishment of an extraordinary committee. This committee aims to study and resolve the unrest in Thailand's southernmost provinces, targeting full peace by 2027 in alignment with the national strategy. He also voiced deep concern over rumors suggesting the government might abandon this target, which he warned would crush public hope.
Pol. Col. Tawee revealed that security agencies previously pledged to parliament that they would achieve a 100% reduction in insurgency incidents, eliminate casualties, revoke special laws, and withdraw military forces to hand areas back to civilians by 2027. While he supports the goal of sustainable peace in the three southern border provinces and four districts of Songkhla, he admitted that reducing incidents and casualties to zero within the next four months remains a daunting task.

Furthermore, he noted that an immediate military withdrawal might be imprudent, as local Buddhist residents still rely on troops for protection. He also criticized the failure of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in integrated budget planning, which merged various agencies and caused a loss of unity in tackling security and economic issues. To counter this, Pol. Col. Tawee proposed the "6A" strategy as a framework to address root causes.
The "6A" strategy proposed by Pol. Col. Tawee represents a shift from a security-centric approach toward holistic social and economic development. By empowering local communities and fostering decentralization, the framework addresses long-standing grievances. However, the primary challenge remains aligning complex state bureaucratic structures and coordinating budgets effectively in the region.
