Future cooperation is projected to concentrate on four strategic areas:
- Deepening engagement with China's creator economy through prominent travel creators, lifestyle influencers, and digital media using short-form videos.
- Promoting premium, wellness, and niche luxury travel experiences, high-end resorts, and distinctive products for high-spending travellers.
- Leveraging Weibo's hashtag and trending-topic features to amplify the reach of Thai festivals among young Chinese audiences.
- Strengthening digital tourism ecosystems by communicating Trusted Thailand safety standards, digital payment conveniences, and Chinese-language services.
"TAT sees strong potential to deepen our partnership with Weibo by turning digital engagement into meaningful travel demand."
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor
This partnership highlights Thailand's ongoing shift toward a micro-regional and high-value tourism strategy regarding the Chinese market, moving away from pure mass tourism volume. Utilizing a dominant Chinese social media platform like Weibo enables TAT to effectively target specific segments and directly communicate safety and quality assurance to potential travellers.
Additionally, the delegations explored establishing the Weibo Gala as an annual fixture in Thailand, building upon the success of the Weibo Gala 2026 held at Siam Paragon in Bangkok in August. Future editions could feature unique annual themes to sustain ongoing audience engagement and reinforce cultural ties between Thailand and China.
