Israeli air strikes targeting a village in southern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least nine people, according to reports from the Lebanese health ministry. The deadly overnight operations struck the Nabatieh district, hitting areas located just a few hundred meters away from the security zone maintained by Israeli troops.
According to the state-run National News Agency, the initial air strike occurred shortly after midnight, completely destroying a three-story residential building near the Shuyuiya roundabout in Kfar Roummane. The blast claimed the lives of eight people inside, including one child and two women, while leaving 11 others injured, among them four children, two women, and a paramedic affiliated with the Islamic Health Association.
A second separate strike subsequently hit a vehicle carrying emergency workers from the Islamic Risala Scout Association, killing one paramedic and injuring two others. The Risala Scouts operate as an emergency response service linked to the Amal movement, an ally of the Hezbollah armed group. The Israeli military stated that it was actively looking into reports regarding the strikes.
Sara Moallaem, a 35-year-old resident of Kfar Roummane, told the BBC that she was asleep in her rental home with her five children when the explosions shattered the night. She noted that some of those killed were distant relatives of her husband and firmly maintained that they were civilians with no ties to Hezbollah. She expressed her intention to relocate her family to the coastal city of Sidon for safety after having packed her belongings six or seven times due to escalating violence.

The ongoing military exchanges in southern Lebanon underscore the profound fragility of the border region, where international frameworks calling for Hezbollah disarmament and gradual Israeli withdrawal have repeatedly failed to halt hostilities. As the death toll mounts, civilian populations continue to bear the heaviest burden, enduring recurrent displacement and constant vulnerability to overnight bombardments.
