Thai superstar Nadech Kugimiya recently opened up about his latest trail running achievement, marking his second trail event of the year. Tackling an actual distance of 46.6 kilometers across rubber tree plantations, steep mountains with elevations reaching 2,000 meters, and occasional drizzle, he led a group of friends to the finish line with a total time of 10 hours and 57 minutes.
The actor shared with a smile that trail running feels like going for a leisurely walk, offering significantly less pressure than long-distance road running. The surrounding greenery and natural scenery help rejuvenate the mind and restore energy unlike cityscapes. Furthermore, the trail running community is famously supportive, always ready to assist runners dealing with cramps or slips. He also offered advice for beginners, encouraging them to focus on steady walking and pushing past mental barriers.
Following the race, Nadech noted that he could eat heartily without worrying about weight gain since he burned a massive amount of calories. To recover properly, he focuses on high protein intake, ice baths, physical therapy, yoga, and adequate rest.
"We just set our goal to keep moving and finish. But my friends, who were running a trail for the first time, got ambitious and wanted to try the 45-kilometer distance. Once we hit the actual trail, most of them had to walk and it took a while, but I really admire their determination because a 2,000-meter elevation climb is no joke."

Trail running has gained immense popularity among Thai celebrities as an invigorating escape from urban congestion into deep nature. Proper preparation requires rigorous core strength and functional endurance training similar to Hyrox events, a discipline that Mark Prin is already familiar with, which helps mitigate injury risks on steep terrains.
Looking ahead to October, Nadech plans to bring close friend Mark Prin and their peer group to take on a 20-kilometer trail run, marking Mark's debut in the sport. The trip is designed to be a fun, casual guys' getaway featuring bamboo rafting, swimming, and plenty of snacks, supported by Mark's strong physical fitness from Hyrox training.
Meanwhile, his partner Yaya Urassaya continually reminds him not to overexert himself to avoid injuries. While a couple's trail running debut might not happen this year, Nadech firmly confirmed their participation in a paired Hyrox competition. They plan to split the workload evenly based on each other's strengths and appropriate equipment weights.
