- CASETiFY accidentally leaked an iPhone Duo case listing before removing the page.
- The name iPhone Duo was previously mentioned by MacRumors and tipster Majin Bu.
- Apple previously used the Duo moniker for PowerBook Duo and MagSafe Duo.
- The official Apple event is scheduled for September 10, 2026, at midnight Thai time.
The tech world was sent into a frenzy after accessory maker CASETiFY accidentally published a product page for cases designed for Apple's upcoming foldable smartphone under the commercial name iPhone Duo, before quickly removing the page into a 404 Not Found error. This slip-up has reignited speculation that the foldable device might actually be branded as iPhone Duo rather than iPhone Ultra, a moniker that had circulated in rumors for months.
This naming leak did not originate solely from CASETiFY. On September 4, MacRumors published a report mentioning the same moniker, which was subsequently backed by a post on X from user Majin Bu claiming that Apple's commercial choice for the foldable handset is iPhone Duo instead of iPhone Ultra.
From an industry perspective, third-party case manufacturers receiving accurate dimensions and structural blueprints in advance is standard supply chain practice for mold production. However, matching those molds with official marketing names beforehand is rare, as Apple maintains strict secrecy. Accessory makers often populate website placeholders using trending rumors circulating online.

Looking back at Apple's naming history, the word Duo is not entirely unfamiliar. The Cupertino giant previously utilized the moniker for the PowerBook Duo laptop line back in the 1990s and later for the MagSafe Duo Charger released in the early 2020s, making its potential revival for a foldable device historically plausible.
"From the information he received, the commercial name used by Apple is not iPhone Ultra, but iPhone Duo."
