A new research report has revealed that YouTube is the most frequently cited website within Google AI Overviews for vitamin and supplement searches. The video platform was featured in 186 out of 350 AI-generated answers, translating to 53.1%, making it the only website referenced in more than half of the collected responses.
The study was conducted by Searcherries, which tracked 50 daily searches from August 30 to September 5, 2026. The queries utilized Google Autocomplete and encompassed topics such as hair growth, energy, sleep, anxiety, and weight loss, with every single search triggering an AI Overview.
Regarding other leading domains, GoodRx secured the second position by appearing in 48.3% of answers. Healthline followed at 28.6%, Cleveland Clinic at 28.0%, and the National Institutes of Health domain, nih.gov, at 25.1%. Websites were ranked based on the number of answers citing them, counting each site once per answer.

YouTube's presence spanned 44 of the 50 queries, demonstrating particular strength in the query group starting with "vitamins for," where it surfaced in 78.6% of those answers. Across the entire panel, YouTube appeared nearly twice as often as Healthline.
The prominence of video content within AI Overviews highlights a significant shift in how search algorithms evaluate multimedia resources for health-related inquiries. Google's AI models increasingly favor engaging video platforms when summarizing complex lifestyle and wellness topics for users.
The research also uncovered discrepancies between AI Overviews and standard organic listings. Only 32.4% of pages cited by the AI appeared in the collected organic results, while 67.6% did not. Matching by website domain instead of exact URL elevated the overlap to 52.5%, indicating that AI selections often point to alternative pages on domains already present in organic search.
The comprehensive analysis evaluated 350 AI Overviews and 5,036 citation occurrences across 572 distinct pages and 218 websites, utilizing US English desktop results configured for New York.
