  • CloudNC secured a $20 million B extension round, lifting its total lifetime funding to $128 million.
  • The company builds CAM Assist, an AI-powered software designed to automate CNC machining workflows.
  • More than 1,000 machine shops globally use the platform, with 80% of its customer base located in the U.S.
  • A new product named Quote Agent is slated to launch next month to estimate project costs and risks.

UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC announced a $20 million B extension round on Wednesday, September 8, 2026, bringing its lifetime total raised capital to $128 million. Co-founder and CEO Theo Saville noted that the company's previous major funding round took place four years ago.

Saville launched CloudNC in 2015 alongside Chris Emery, who currently serves as chief science officer. The company offers CAM Assist, an AI-powered software designed to automate parts of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. CNC is the precise computer-controlled cutting or shaping of materials used in automotive, defense, and consumer hardware industries.

Prior to cutting a part, machinists or programmers must determine essential factors such as part fixturing and tool selection. While powerful traditional CAM software helps with ideation, users typically still have to manually specify machining steps. CAM Assist integrates directly into established CAM systems like Autodesk Fusion or Mastercam.

The software selects appropriate tools, approach directions, and cutting feeds and speeds before drafting the code required to guide the CNC machine. The user then reviews, edits, and approves the results. The company currently employs 80 people and maintains 80% of its customer base in the United States.

"There are more ways to machine a typical CNC part than there are atoms in the universe."

Nimble Ventures led the funding round, with participation from Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Capital, Lockheed Martin's venture arm. The capital will support wider adoption, strengthen go-to-market operations, expand into new markets, and drive the development of new products like Quote Agent.

Integrating artificial intelligence into CNC machining addresses the critical skilled labor shortage currently facing the manufacturing sector. By automating routine initial setup tasks and strategy generation, AI tools allow experienced machinists to focus on strategic oversight and quality control, aligning with industry trends toward domestic reshoring.
